Meet the Ladies Who Luck:
They don’t wait for fortune to find them.
They make their own luck.
Meet the ladies we love and see how they do it by design.
Q: Love your place! How long have you been here in this adorable apartment?
A: Thanks! My boyfriend and I were set on more space when we were moving about 6 months ago. We're starting a little band and always tinkering with our music so being able to rehearse at home was really important to us. We fell in love with the apartment, and soon realized that Jersey's a gem!…Nothing like an " authentic" chicken parm sandwich…We live on them!
Q: Is that a hint of green I see in your hair?
A: It very much is!. I wanted to try something new and a bit twisted before last fashion week and my stylist came up with this ombre bronze/green effect. It's subtle in some light, but then in the sun it's way bold. I think I might commit to it more fully next time!
Q: You were a lawyer before?
A: I totally, actually was, which is not the typical story in fashion. Nevertheless, I'm really proud of the path that I took. My parents were always supportive and encouraged my brother and me to aim high academically, so going to law school seemed to be the right fit (especially considering my interest in a potential political career at the time). But, I was still learning about myself and what I wanted out of life, so plans changed. Now, I just channel that same drive to my current passions, fashion and music. I'm the same girl, but I get to enjoy dressing a lot more now (even though I can afford a lot less!)..
Q: What's on your "I would never wear…" list?
A: That's really not me! I'd never make that sort of rule because chances are I'd break it a week later. I'm often intrigued by wearing the colors, textures, and concepts that seem a little foreign or off-kilter to me. That's the excitement; exploring the newness of it all. And, to tie it back to the "luck" part of the "Ladies Who Luck", that sense of adventure is what I think helps create a lot of "luck"-- not being afraid to explore new things or opportunities, whether in your professional or creative life, because it can lead you to amazing places you never even dreamed of.
Q: So you were a lawyer, now you work at a magazine, when you aren't in a jam session as drummer for the band that you are starting with the help of our boyfriend?!? Wow!…you really are making your own luck!…did we leave anything out?
A: My blog! You can check out my thoughts on style, culture, and travel at www.theworkinggirlesq.com. It's kind of a peek into my head; you get a glimpse at all the things that inspire me, from clothes and accessories, to music and food.
